Wind Does Not Deter Relay For Life 2019

The rain held off for the 2019 Relay For Life event held at Buford High School on Friday evening. A field of people and luminaries brought survivors and supporters together to help raise money to fight cancer.

The storm line passed earlier in the day and brought behind it blustery winds. The bright sunshine and clear sky more than made up for gusts. Many of the popup tents stayed cover-less through out the event.

The effort helped raise over $1800 for the American Cancer Society. Food was plentiful. Reunions of people with other survivors made it much more than just a lap around the oval of Luminaries. After the survivor’s lap, purple and white Balloons were released. Relay for Life is a shout of victories over a dread disease. Within these events and moments, we celebrate together and carry on the fight for those who follow.
